We were so excited to get to participate in our first-ever wedding show!!! Working with SeBride Love Tour was such an awesome experience and we canNOT wait to work with them more in the future!!! But, it was quite a little journey leading to the Columbus Venues Tour....a journey that I feel God has His hand all over! And I just could NOT move forward without sharing it with you all!! So, here's our first Wedding Vendor Show story!!!
I stumbled across advertisement for the SeBride Columbus Love Tour on Facebook and immediately messaged Rebecca to see if we could get in on the action! They took a look at our website and said they liked JustB's style and we were welcomed as a vendor...and so it began.
I had 8 days. Eight days to get a booth together, images printed, sign made with JustB's logo and all pamphlets and hand-outs made...all on a budget! We just jumped right on it!!!
I knew right off the bat I wanted a rustic, vintage booth and knew we needed a backdrop of some sort. Hannah, my wonderful asSIStant Photographer, immediately went bargain hunting on all Facebook yard sale sights and came across a perfect set of doors for us to purchase and "antique up"...since we're quite the antique-ers. (Please note the sarcasm, we've never antiqued anything in our lives)! But we watched a Youtube Video.... so, it couldn't be all that hard, right?
WRONG!
In the meantime, I was messaging back and forth with Rebecca getting the rules and regulations of the "Wedding Show". Turns out it wasn't a typical wedding show that I was familiar with where the vendors set up a booth and try to reel Brides in! It was basically a fake wedding at 3 different venues where all the wedding vendors would perform their task (flowers, decor, music, etc.) so that the Brides-2-B could see what it would really be like on the day of. It was such a cool concept I had never heard of... and LOVED it! It did, however, mean that we wouldn't be setting up a "booth". :(
I was devastated. I had so many plans... I told her our previous plans to have an antique door backdrop and antique furniture. Well, she loved it. Moments later I find myself talking to Jennifer, the director of the whole event, asking if we would like to still bring our backdrops to set up and asking if we would be the photographers of the event! We would not only get to be vendors, but would take pictures of the event that would be use in the SeBride Wedding magazine article about the event... with free magazine ad placement! Umm... YES, PLEASE!?!?! I was so overwhelmed with gratitude! It felt 100% led by God and I was just so excited and ready to just soak it all in!!
My wonderful hubby painted the doors for me on Saturday morning and we waited for them to dry. Then, we sanded......and sanded..... and SANDED.... and, oh Lord, the sanding!!!!!! We sanded until our sandpaper was diminished to little once-was and our fingers hurt! It was NOT as easy as the Youtube-r made it seem... even though she assured us that we could, indeed, DIY-it! Fast-forward 2 hours through the sanding and it came time to put the wood-stain on. Hannah- "A little or alot?" Me- "The you-tube gal covered the whole thing then wiped it down".....
WRONG!
"Brown... we now have a dark brown door!"
This statement was followed by aLOT of scrubbing! We FINALLY got the doors looking how we liked! My hubby put L-shaped brackets on the back so they would stand upright and drilled hooks on the front to complete our vintage vision! The JustB shirts that were made and monogrammed by my wonderful Mom were ready to go! All the pamphlets, business cards, and hand-outs were printed, cut and folded! (We decided to make a "10 Questions to Ask To Help Find the Perfect Photographer For You" guide for the Beautiful Brides.) The first ever JustB sign had been delivered along with the first-ever JustB prints for displaying! Everything was ready and I was beyond excited to get to The Rankin Gardens and Atrium!
The event was gorgeous! The Bride looked elegant in her Uptown Gowns wedding dress and hair by Lindsey K. Bridal Stylist; while the Groom was classically handsome in his tux from Celebrate Tuxedos Columbus! Toni Ollie of Joyful Occasions coordinated the look and vendors perfectly for this venue! And David Benefield with Ann's Porch wowed with gorgeous floral arrangements a gazebo for the cake and perfect bench for the Bride & Groom. The day was such a beautiful affair and we were so excited to get to work with such wonderful vendors! And we were especially excited to get to capture Desiree and Chris, the really-engaged-mock-bride-and-groom, who were such a fun couple to get to know!
All-in-all we felt the whole day was a huge success! It was such a fun learning experience! And we loved having the opportunity to meet such wonderful wedding vendors whom we are anxious to work with in the future!
Enjoy a glimpse into our journey and, finally, some shots of the gorgeous event! Thanks for stopping by! And, as always, feel free to contact us here. We would love to meet you, hear your love story and capture your big day!!!
